Google Analytics

Functional guide for configuring the Google Analytics GA4 browser integration in Pharos.

This guide explains the Google Analytics integration in Pharos from a functional point of view.

What Is This Integration

The Google Analytics integration adds a GA4 browser tag to supported Pharos customer-facing pages.

It lets your team measure pageviews and checkout behavior directly in Google Analytics without loading tracking on Pharos admin pages.

When to Use It

Use Google Analytics when you want:

  • GA4 pageview reporting for payment links and the customer portal
  • checkout interaction tracking on hosted payment-link pages
  • a browser-side analytics setup limited to customer-facing Pharos surfaces

Prerequisites

Before configuring Google Analytics, make sure:

  • you have a Google Analytics 4 property
  • you have the GA4 measurement ID
  • you know whether tracking should run on payment links, customer portal, or both

How to Configure It in Pharos

  1. Open the Google Analytics integration page in admin settings.
  2. Enable the integration.
  3. Enter the GA4 measurement ID.
  4. Choose the customer-facing surfaces where tracking should run:
  • payment links
  • customer portal
  1. Save the settings.

What Happens After It Is Enabled

After the integration is enabled:

  • Pharos injects the GA4 browser tag only on the selected customer-facing surfaces
  • payment-link pages send pageviews and supported checkout events
  • customer portal sends pageviews only in this version
  • admin pages do not load the Google Analytics tag

How to Verify It Is Working

You can verify the setup by:

  • opening a payment link or customer portal page you enabled
  • confirming traffic appears in GA4 Realtime reports
  • completing a checkout interaction on a payment link and confirming the related event appears in GA4
  • confirming admin navigation in Pharos does not generate GA4 traffic from this integration

Limitations or Important Notes

  • this integration uses GA4 browser tagging, not Measurement Protocol
  • customer portal tracking is limited to pageviews in this version
  • checkout custom events are only sent from payment-link pages
  • admin pages are intentionally excluded from browser tracking

Troubleshooting

If Google Analytics data does not appear:

  • confirm the integration is enabled
  • confirm the measurement ID is a valid GA4 ID
  • confirm the specific surface is enabled
  • confirm you are testing on a payment link or customer portal page rather than the admin
  • check GA4 Realtime reports first before relying on standard delayed reports

Functional Summary

The Google Analytics integration lets your team run GA4 browser tracking on Pharos payment links and customer portal pages while keeping admin pages excluded from browser analytics.
