Segment
Functional guide for configuring the Segment analytics integration in Pharos.
This guide explains the Segment integration in Pharos from a functional point of view.
What Is This Integration
The Segment integration sends supported Pharos lifecycle and checkout events to Segment.
It allows your team to use Segment as the central event pipeline for analytics, destinations, and downstream data tools.
When to Use It
Use Segment when you want:
- Pharos events available in your broader analytics stack
- a central event router for multiple destinations
- control over which supported events are forwarded
Prerequisites
Before configuring Segment, make sure:
- you have a Segment workspace and source
- you have the Segment write key
- you know which Pharos source events you want to forward
How to Configure It in Pharos
- Open the Segment integration page in admin settings.
- Enable the integration.
- Enter the Segment write key.
- Review the list of supported source events.
- Enable or disable events individually as needed.
- Override the outgoing event name if your Segment naming convention requires it.
- Save the settings.
What Happens After It Is Enabled
After the integration is enabled:
- Pharos evaluates supported events against your event mapping settings
- enabled events are forwarded to Segment
- disabled events are skipped
- renamed events are sent using the external name you configured
How to Verify It Is Working
You can verify the setup by:
- triggering a supported checkout or billing event in Pharos
- confirming the event arrives in Segment
- confirming the event name matches your configured mapping
Limitations or Important Notes
- only supported Pharos events can be sent
- disabled events are not forwarded
- this integration depends on a valid write key
Troubleshooting
If events do not appear in Segment:
- confirm the integration is enabled
- confirm the write key is correct
- confirm the specific source event is enabled
- confirm you triggered an event that Pharos supports for Segment forwarding
Functional Summary
The Segment integration forwards supported Pharos events into Segment with per-event enablement and naming control so your team can plug Pharos into a broader analytics workflow.
